Free Clip Art & Web Graphics
This is a list of some of the websites that you can find free graphics for your own site or any other project on. Some have restrictive terms of use, so you should read the copyright notices carefully. In addition, some websites using the Freeze,LLC clipart collection are being taken down, since they tend not to provide their own original art.
Clipart Sites Directories
FreeGraphics.com
- This website is a good starting point in your quest for free graphics. The webmaster has done a good job of sorting out the websites that have high-quality, original works from those that just feature the same old archives surrounded with pop-ups. As a result, though, it is missing some of the larger clip art sites.
Graphic Editing/Assistance
Grafcon Rating: 10/10
- This website offers an impressive free photo editing service. Some of the work on their website looks quite professional. It looks like they accept multiple submissions, and they do not claim any copyright on your photos.
Clipart Download Sites
Free-Backgrounds.com Rating: 10/10
- Lots of free backgrounds to choose from, including some that I have used on my sites in the past. Since they only focus on web page backgrounds, you probably will not find much to use on other projects.
GraphxKingdom Rating: 10/10
- Free graphics for your website, with many useful categores and a wide selection. The majority of the graphics are icons, some of which are familiar from Windows.
ProDraw Graphics Rating: 10/10
- I'm completely blown away by the quantity and quality of the 3D graphics on this site. There must be thousands of great quality original graphics! You really have to see this site to believe it! They ask for a linkback on commercial sites though.
#1 Free Clip Art Rating: 10/10
- This is another one of my favorite clip art sites with over 10,000 clip art images in 300 categories. There are a wide variety of images available ranging from dollar bills to astrological symbols.
Backgrounds Archive Rating: 9/10

Another very good collection of webpage backgrounds. The backgrounds are organized into 18 categories, and there is a search feature to help you sort through all of the background images.
Barry's Clipart Server Rating: 9/10
- This site goes into great depth and has a large amount of clipart for you to use.
morguefile Rating: 9/10
- A promising free stock photography site. Currently, there are a lot of photos of common objects available, along with a especially interesting collection of texture images. While there are certainly many holes in the comprehensiveness of the collection, it's still worth taking a serious look at.
BannerBlast! Rating: 8/10
- This site has lots of clipart and animations for your website, with a large amount of website spefic images like e-mail and under construction graphics.
321clipart.com Rating: 8/10
- Many free clip art images, with lots of useful geography clipart.
Clip Art Warehouse Rating: 8/10
- Another good clipart site, and this one doesn't have pop-up ads! However, I dislike that you have to view each graphic alone, instead of seeing them all on one page.
WebClipz.com Rating: 8/10
- Here is a pretty good clipart site, I can't really think of anything else to say about them so go check them out!
AAA Free Clip Art Rating: 8/10
This is a good place to look for free clipart, like all of the other sites listed here.
Microsoft Design Gallery Live Rating: 8/10
- This is just like any other clip art site except that it has some sounds and you can download entire collections instead of individual images.
Buttonland Rating: 8/10

If webpage navigation buttons are your specific clip art need, Buttonland would be a good place to look around. While the total number of graphics is smaller than most top clipart sites, the buttons are of excellent quality and cover a wide range of designs. It's worth noting that they don't specialize in the popular 88x31 button format.

Here is a large archive of a variety of different types of web graphics. They appear to specialize in flags and backgrounds. Their graphics are only available for personal and non-commercial use. Interestingly, they also have a version of their site in Italian.

Another nice stock photography site. This is pretty similar to morguefile (such as how neither feels compelled to capitalize its name), although you download the entire collection at once instead of viewing the pictures individually on the web, which I see as a disadvantage.
Music Graphics Galore Rating: 7/10

This website specializes in, as the name suggests, music-related graphics. There is an amazing selection of music-related graphics available for non-commercial use. Images are available for virtually every musical instrument you could think of, along with musical notes and background graphics.
Animation Library Rating: 7/10

Their site offers over 14,000 excellent free animations for people to use on their website, plus articles, reviews, tutorials, and everything else related to animated graphics. In addition, thanks to their Postcard Station, Animation Library visitors can now send any of their 14,000 animations to their friends and relatives as digital postcards!
This spot was occupied by an excellent site, Clipart Monkey. However, their site was hijacked by a unethical pay-per-click search company, Ultimate Search Inc. Ultimate Search has been taking various sites across the Web and threatening smaller free stuff sites without lawyers. Whenever you come across a site that looks like ultimatesearch.com (go ahead and type it in to see what it looks like, although I'm not linking to it), be sure not to support them by clicking on anything!
Mr Fire Rating: 7/10
- If you're searching for any type of fire graphic, look no further. They have a broad assortment of fire related clipart, some with well-done annimated components. The graphics are only for non-commercial use.
AnimatedGif.Net Rating: 7/10
- This site claims to have 5000 animated GIF images, and you can use all of them on your website. They are placed in over 40 categories, and many are quite useful.
Free-Graphics.com Rating: 7/10
- A wide variety of clip art images, along with other useful graphics.
Clips Ahoy! Free Clipart Island Rating: 7/10
- This site accepts requests for new clipart, so if you can't find what you are looking for elsewhere, you might want to request it here.
All Free Clipart Rating: 7/10
- Another free clipart site, this has some images of letters in cool fonts.
BigFoto Rating: 7/10
- A decent collection of photographs availalble for download. Some of the pictures are outstanding in quality, while others are just typical tourist photos. The organization is a bit confusing. All the pictures on the site are free for commercial use with a linkback.
ART-TLC Rating: 6/10

Some animations and backgrounds made by a pretty good artist. There are some excellent backgrounds that look like they were made using Sausage Reptile.
Leo's Icon Archive Rating: 6/10
- A fair amount of icons for use on your pages.
ABC-Art Rating: 6/10
- This is another decent free clipart site. All their clipart is categorized into just 8 categories, which means that you have to download many graphics on a page (which can be both a good and a bad thing). Unfortunately, this website does have a lot of annoying pop-ups. On the bright side, though, there are no posted use restrictions.
Web Graphics Gallery Rating: 6/10
- They have a nice design and Web Graphics Gallery would be an excellent site if they didn't make you register with Freeze LLC.
buttonland.net Rating: 5/10
- Here is another site with a decent number of free buttons available for you to use on your website. However, there are fewer patterns than most sites. In addition, they require you to post a 88x31 button link to their website if you use any of their buttons.
About.com Webclipart Rating: 5/10
- Plenty of links to find the perfect clipart.
The Search Party Rating: 5/10
- This website has several free backgrounds available, many of which are of nice quality, although they're simply not numerous and you have to buy a CD-ROM to get the full collection. A link back is also requested for using the backgrounds.
Top Free Clipart.com Rating: 5/10
- There isn't really anything that separates this site from the other free clipart sites...just another free clipart site!
ABC Giant Rating: 5/10
- I'm not impressed by this site's selection of graphics, plus it's fairly commercialized (full of attempts to get you to sign up with PostMaster Direct or some other e-mail list company). However, I wouldn't rule it out entirely in a search for clipart.
CoolGraphics.com Rating: 3/10
- This is a bad site to refer to in your search for clipart. There are not many free images in the first place, then you must linkback to coolgraphics.com and the graphics are of low quality. I recommend you look elsewhere for free clipart.
